Of course, we have not time to fix ourselves, I've tried myself with new widgets and, to be honest, what a mess they did with this "new feature", fixing only it would consume a lot of time of any decent programmer, "I have work to do", so let's Apple fix it by itself. These "tests" can make Apple fix problems in further releases or you can fix by yourself with some advanced code knowledge. So, if you did search by battery performance issues you'll see that all initial releases came with a decrease of battery performance, High Sierra (2017) had the same issues. Look, even a 2019 Macbook Pro has serious issues.įor now, the system are collecting data, running tests in background without your consent and I bet you that is no way to see this processes in Activity Monitor, unless you have an advanced code knowledge to use terminal (or tools) and see by yourself this processes. I know, the beta period is only for that, but, for some reason (Apple want make us doing its job for free) I don't know, beta testers do not report such informations to make Apple optimize the system for all hardwares.
Just be calm, they will release updates to get back battery normal conditions, until now, the system need to index a lot of things, syncronize and send anonymous statics about how so many hardwares are performing Big Sur, so, Apple are collecting data on background, sometimes even without your consent, they need those informations to perform better updates and fix a lot of things that beta testers didn't realise or didn't report. So, with Catalina my battery lasted 45 minutes every 10% with wi-fi and light browsing, with Big Sur 11.0.1 you'll get only 15 minutes at every 10%.

Jumping to 12h without wi-fi + text editing + reading pdf + making slides with Microsoft 365. With Catalina 10.15.7 my battery time was 8h with wi-fi and light browsing. U/bballpro15, if you upgrade to Big Sur, be aware that the battery performance will be short, very short compared to Catalina 10.15.7 (as usual for every initial OS release)
